Prime Minister Gustavo Adrianzen on Friday expressed his sorrow and solidarity with the relatives and colleagues of fighter pilot, Peruvian Air Force (FAP) Major Ramiro Alfredo Rondon Medina, who had recently passed away in Arequipa region, southern Peru.

"I will follow up on the investigation of this accident. Honor and glory to the defenders of the Homeland!" he expressed via X (formerly Twitter).

Earlier today, the FAP reported it had found the remains of the pilot after locating the impact zone of the Mirage 2000P aircraft that had been missing since yesterday.

The remains of the military airplane were found on the west slope of the snow-capped Picchu Picchu mountain in Arequipa province.

The FAP indicated that the Accident Investigation Board (JIA) was activated in order to determine the possible causes of the unfortunate accident.
