The Ministry of Health (Minsa) on Wednesday reported that people above 18 years of age (nationals and foreigners) with comorbidities, who have received their third COVID-19 vaccine dose five months ago, can now attend any vaccination center or health facility to receive the corresponding fourth dose.

The Minsa official reminded the population that the pandemic is still ongoing, stressing the need to be vaccinated in the face of a COVID-19 fourth pandemic wave.

"It has been stipulated that all people with comorbidities, who are aged between 18 and 50 years, can now receive their fourth dose," Martinez remarked.

"Let us remember that the pandemic is not over; we must continue to protect ourselves," she added.

The immunizations director recalled that the fourth dose was only for people over 50 years of age, health staff, and immunosuppressed patients.

However, it was deemed necessary to expand this age range. Thus, now those over 18 years of age are eligible to boost their protection against COVID-19.

According to Martinez, Minsa's decision to make the fourth dose available to this new population group was based on recommendations from the Committee of Experts on Immunizations.
