10:47 | Lima, Mar. 17.

This morning Huaycoloro River overflew again and dozens of houses were flooded across Campoy area and on Nueve de Octubre and Malecon Checa avenues in eastern Lima's San Juan de Lurigancho district.

Neighbors use buckets and brooms to remove water out of their homes and place sandbags to prevent future floods in their properties.

On the other hand, those on Malecon Checa Ave. remain astonished as they watch the increasing water level of Rimac River —where Huaycoloro flows into— running in front of their houses.

In a different zone, Carapongo, a possible overflowing of Huaycoloro River has raised fear among the population, as the flow has dramatically increased.

National Police spokespersons noted the only entry and exit point for San Juan de Lurigancho locals is Santa Rosa tunnel, given that streets and avenues are blocked and have been damaged in one way or another.
