Peru: Over 12,000 visited Lambayeque's museums during Holy Week

A total of 12,695 tourists visited the six museums located in Peru's northern Lambayeque region during the Holy Week holidays (March 29 - April 1), it was reported on Thursday.

This figure represents a significant increase compared to that registered in the same period in 2017 (2,645 people), thus showing a growth trend.


In this sense, 5,379 tourists arrived at Royal Tombs of Sipan Museum. From this total, 5,213 were national citizens and 166 foreigners.

The Brüning National Archaeological Museum welcomed 1,333 visitors, whereas Sican National Museum received 1,458 people.


Besides, 2,892 (domestic and foreign) tourists visited Tucume On-Site Museum during said holidays.

For its part, Huaca Rajada-Sipan Museum opened its doors to 1,421 people (1,382 Peruvians and 39 foreigners).


Lastly, Chotuna-Chornancap On-Site Museum received 212 visitors.

Attendees also participated in other entertainment activities, such as drawing workshops, as well as preparation, and tasting of regional drinks and snacks, among others.


It must be noted foreign tourists came mostly from Great Britain, France, Spain, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Turkey, and Poland.
