Peru: Number of recovered patients exceeds that of new cases

According to the latest COVID-19 situation report, released by Peru's Health Ministry (Minsa), the number of discharges —from the hospital or home isolation— exceeded that of new positive cases.

When comparing Thursday figures with those of Friday, we can see that 4,330 people were discharged in the last 24 hours ending at 00:00 on Friday over the 3,537 people who were added to the list of positive cases.

The number of discharges —the people who defeated the coronavirus— saw a significant growth this week.

In total, 119,409 people had been discharged until Monday, 125,205 until Tuesday, 128,622 until Wednesday, 131,190 until Thursday, and 135,520 until Friday.

Likewise, the number of people infected with COVID-19 rose to 232,992 on Monday, 237,156 on Tuesday, 240,908 on Wednesday, 244,388 on Thursday, and 247,925 on Friday.

As for the death toll, the Friday report indicates that the number of deaths had grown to 7,660, which means 199 more victims than the Thursday figure.

No admissions to ICU

The same statement revealed that there were no new COVID-19 admissions to ICU, since the Thursday report shows 1,130 patients in ICU, while the number fell to 1,126 on Friday.
