stated that the number of tourists who arrived in Peru between January and October this year increased by 4.6% compared to the figure recorded during the same period in 2024.
In an interview with Andina News Agency, the official specified that 2,800,828 international tourists arrived in the South American country from January to October.
This contrasts with the figure recorded between January and October 2024, which amounted to 2,720,719 people.
Similarly, Limo stated that, compared to 2019—the last year before the COVID-19 pandemic—the recovery stands at 77.6%. At that time, 3,665,659 tourists were recorded.
"We will still have to wait until next year to surpass the pre-pandemic figures from 2019," the Promperu head emphasized.
Recovery
However, the official stressed that an 11% growth has been achieved in the second half of this year compared to the foreign revenue inflow recorded during the same period in 2019.
"This means that tourists are arriving who spend much more than in 2019," he noted.
Limo indicated that the recovery of these levels is progressing but has been partly affected by air connectivity issues and by certain incidents that occurred in Cusco.
"We have had problems with the airports in Junin and Jaen, which have just resumed operations," he mentioned.
The Promperu head also highlighted that efforts have been underway from the Deputy Tourism Ministry to attract more airlines to Peru, originating from Canada, Turkey, and other Asian countries.
