Peru's non-traditional exports reached US$11.163 billion between January and October this year, which meant an increase of 2.9% compared to the similar period in 2018, the Central Reserve Bank (BCR) reported on Tuesday.

This denoted a 5.4% increase in shipments of fishery, agricultural, and non-metallic mining products.

"During the first 10 months of the year, there were higher sales of avocados (1.1%), blueberries (45.9%), frozen giant squid (49.8%), grapes (19.2%), and asparagus (5.5%), among the main ones," it expressed.

Tenth month

The BCR explained that non-traditional exports totaled US$1.204 billion in October (+1.1%).

According to the issuing entity, this result was favored by the increase in the volume shipped.

The BCR also highlighted that Peru's non-traditional exports value accumulated an increase of 2.9% over the last 12 months thru October 2019.

"This is the second-highest growth rate among the main countries in the region," it said.
