Peru: New Foreign Affairs Minister sworn in

The President of the Republic Francisco Sagasti on Monday administered the oath of office to Ambassador Allan Wagner, who has become the new Minister of Foreign Affairs.


The ceremony was held at the Government Palace in Lima.

Allan Wagner is a career diplomat. He has served as Minister of Foreign Affairs twice (1985-1988 and 2002-2003), and as Minister of Defense between 2006 and 2007.

He was also Peruvian Ambassador to Spain (1988-1990), Venezuela (1990-1992), the United States (2001-2002), and the Netherlands (2008-2014).

Moreover, the newly sworn-in minister served as Peru's Diplomatic Agent before the International Court of Justice in The Hague, in a case of maritime dispute with Chile.
