In its objective of closing Peru's infrastructure gaps aimed at improving citizens' quality of life, the Government of President Dina Boluarte on Tuesday
, which will represent the largest public work in the country's history, thanks to an investment worth over S/24 billion (above US$6.21 billion).
The top official underscored that this public work will be the first mountain highway in Peru. It will connect Metropolitan Lima with the Central Amazon Macro Region, made up of six regions: Huanuco, Pasco, Junin, Ucayali, Huancavelica, and Lima.
"This mega-project will (serve to) boost the economy, reduce the costs of transporting heavy cargo, and facilitate the transfer of export products. Thanks to the new Central Highway, there will be faster and more efficient connection with Jorge Chavez International Airport, the Port of Callao, and the future Chancay Megaport, which will mean greater commercial and tourist opportunities for more Peruvians," she explained.
Subsequently, the top official pointed out that the future highway is a public need and part of the National Sustainable Infrastructure Plan for Competitiveness in the country.
Within this framework, Mrs. Boluarte affirmed that she will be vigilant so that construction works begin as soon as possible.
"My promise to Huanuco, Pasco, Junin, Ucayali, Huancavelica (regions), and Lima is that they will become intertwined through this highway, which is starting to become a reality and will be the greatest legacy of our Government for these beloved regions," she expressed.
It is worth remembering that, after a selection process, the
Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MTC) chose France to provide technical advice to Peru, through the government-to-government modality, for the construction of the New Central Highway.
In this regard,
French Ambassador Marc Giacomini underscored that
Peru and his country not only have a promising cultural exchange ahead of them but also commercial growth opportunities for both nations.
Additionally, the diplomat stated that projects such as the New Central Highway promote investment by international companies in Peru.
