Peru's Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Edgar Vasquez on Tuesday highlighted the inauguration of the Nazca Lines' new lookout tower, which will contribute to increasing tourism to Ica region.

In this regard, the government official said this infrastructure provides visitors with a modern, safe, and comfortable observation platform for sighting —from a height of 20 meters.

"This new and modern structure will enable more tourists to see and enjoy the famous lines, as well as the geoglyphs," he expressed.

The new lookout tower has been built thanks to the funds provided by the Japanese cooperation and Peru's Culture Ministry.

The Ministry of Culture invested S/216,000 (about US$64,019) for the foundation, and technical studies, among others.

Meanwhile, donors made a disbursement of more than US$118,000, which covered the installation of the metal tower and the withdrawal of objections to ensure the stability of the tower.

The event was led by Culture Minister Sonia Guillen.
