Peruvian Army Major General Carlos Rios Aguilar was appointed head of the Peruvian delegation to the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB), an organization attached to the Organization of American States (OAS).

The appointment was made official through Supreme Resolution 008-2023-DE, which was published on Tuesday in the Official Gazette El Peruano.

Moreover, the resolution states that Rios Aguilar will also serve as "Adviser on Hemispheric Security Issues and Member of the Permanent Representation of Peru to the OAS" in Washington D.C., United States, between February 10 this year and February 9, 2025.

The IADB provides technical, consultative and educational advice to the OAS and its member countries about military and defense affairs, in order to contribute to peace and safety in the Americas.
