Peru: Minsa sends over one million protective equipment units to Arequipa region

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) has sent 1,352, 816 units of personal protective equipment (PPE) to Arequipa region and hired 578 health professionals, including doctors, nurses and technical staff —under the Service Administrative Contract (CAS) regime— to carry out work during the coronavirus pandemic.


On Saturday, the ministry sent additional medical supplies to this southern region to reinforce the fight against COVID-19. 

On this occasion, it delivered 31 mechanical ventilators, 2.2 tons of PPE, 24 ICU beds, and 24 secretion aspirators.

In addition, Minsa representative Zulma Anaya reported that 10,000 molecular and 5,000 rapid tests were dispatched from Air Group No. 8 of the Peruvian Air Force (FAP) in Callao to keep on the surveillance, isolation and containment of positive cases.

The official, who is part of a multidisciplinary team, informed that the consignment was handed over to the Regional Health Management (Geresa) office, which will oversee the distribution of the material in various health facilities across the region.
