Peruvian Minister of Culture Alejandro Salas on Monday called for calm, noting that the
President of the Republic Pedro Castillo is very likely to administer the oath of office to the new members of the Ministerial Cabinet in the next few hours.
Upon his departure from the Government Palace, Salas said that he met with the Head of State to discuss issues related to his portfolio and that, after such meeting, Mr. Castillo would finish to work on the reshuffle of the ministerial team.
"So, do not worry, surely the new Cabinet ministers will be sworn in the next few hours," he told reporters.
The minister remarked that his continuance or removal from office is a decision that falls to the President and that he will continue working as long as he has his confidence.
In addition, government official emphasized that the President of the Republic has been elected for five years to hold such position and that "we must respect that as democrats."
"What I do know is that work continues on the Repsol issue, on the corresponding solutions; Peru cannot wait," Salas remarked.
