The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Monday met with virtual mayors-elect of Metropolitan Lima and Callao, who highlighted the Government's willingness to undertake joint efforts in favor of citizens.

At the end of the meeting, Rennan Espinoza, Mayor-elect of Puente Piedra, commented that democracy is being strengthened on the basis of dialogue between local authorities and the Government.

Espinoza remarked that dialogue is imperative for the development of districts and the capital city.

Moreover, he noted that they cannot turn their back on neighbors in order to seek the best for the city.

For his part, Pedro Espadaro, virtual mayor of Callao, described this first meeting with the Head of State as beneficial and productive.

According to the mayor-elect, the meeting covered topics like public safety, infrastructure, housing, environment, education, and health.

In addition, Espadaro said that he forwarded the request to President Castillo to hold a meeting in order to set a Callao agenda for the next four years, by addressing the demands of each district.

"We have expressed our willingness to work together," he pointed out.
