Peru: Lunahuana, the perfect place to spend Independence Day long weekend

12:43 | Lima, Jul. 24.

Peru's Independence Day long weekend (July 27-29) is coming up and there are several options to enjoy these rest days far away from the frenetic capital city; one of them is Lunahuana district —a favorite among travelers.

Located on the way to southern Lima region, Cañete province's Lunahuana Valley is the perfect place to admire nature, enjoy landscapes, do adventure sports, and eat delicious food.

This narrow valley is formed by Cañete River and —thanks to its waters— gardens and vineyards are plentiful in this region.

Lunahuana is the place to be for those loving adventure sports. In fact, it is an ideal destination for beginners.

Some of these outdoor activities include canoeing, trekking, mountain biking, canopying, rappelling, and slacklining, among others.

If you are looking for a relaxing experience, you can learn about wine and pisco production at different wineries.

Delicious local food is another allure.

More attractions

Located on the right side of Cañete River, Catapalla is a must-visit spot. The place is known for its bee honey, pollen, and fruit trees.

Additionally, travel agencies run guided tours to archaeological sites like Incahuasi.
