Various sociopolitical demonstrations took place in the Peruvian capital, Lima, starting on Saturday noon.

On Avenida de la Peruanidad (Peruvian Identity Avenue) —next to Campo de Marte (Mars Field Park)— in Jesus Maria district, a civic and artistic event, called Concert for Peace, was held. Thus, a stage with sound and lighting equipment had been set up in the area.

Performers of various musical genres participated in this activity, including coastal and Criolla music singers.

At this event, attendees were carrying Peruvian flags and wearing white T-shirts.

They also brought banners with phrases that referred to seeking peace in Peru as they issued calls in this regard.

Clashes with police

On the other hand, various groups of demonstrators took to the streets of Downtown Lima, demanding the resignation of the President of the Republic Dina Boluarte and the call for new elections.

Two of them came from the districts of San Juan de Miraflores and San Juan de Lurigancho, respectively. Said groups were made up of people from various Peruvian regions.

Another contingent of demonstrators arrived at Abancay Avenue through which they attempted to move towards Parliament headquarters. Yet their passage was blocked by National Police personnel.

As in previous days, this generated clashes between demonstrators and law enforcement agents.

Once the police had used tear gas to disperse the demonstrators, a group of protesters continued to clash with the agents, throwing stones and fireworks at them.
