Peru's non-traditional exports amounted to US$1.308 billion in April 2022, up 10.4% compared to the same month last year, the
Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCR) reported on Tuesday.
The average price of these exports increased 10.3%, while the volume shipped in said period grew 0.1%.
In the first four months of 2022,
non-traditional exports totaled US5.71 billion, which represented a 21.3% increase from the same period in 2021.
In April this year, Peru saw a year-on-year increase in sales of zinc products (31.6%), calcium phosphates (38.1%), and fresh grapes (746%), among other products.
Between January and April this year, the most exported products were fresh grapes, zinc products, and blueberries, which recorded year-on-year increases of 22.1%, 52.3%, and 117.7%, respectively.
Regional leader
The BCR underscored that Peru has led the growth of non-traditional exports among countries in the region in the last five years as of April 2022, recording an average annual rate of 6.9%.
This result is explained by higher shipments of agricultural (mainly fruits), textile, chemical, fishing, as well as iron and steel products.
