The Executive Branch has officialized the regulation that allows
to exercise remote management of the Presidential Office.
According to Law No. 31810, which modifies the Executive Branch Organic Law, the Head of State is allowed to travel abroad and remain in charge of the Presidential Office from outside the country —with previous authorization from Parliament.
It was published in the Official Gazette El Peruano on Thursday.
The document indicates that the Prime Minister —in his capacity as authorized spokesperson for the Government— must maintain permanent communication with the Head of State digitally throughout the presidential trip.
Likewise, it specified that this scenario can only be configured if the president does not have any acting vice-presidents, as at present.
Following the approval of this law, the Head of State will be allowed to remain in charge of the aforementioned office through digital technologies such as videoconferences and the digital signature mechanism.
