On July 1, the Third National Collegiate Criminal Court will start the oral trial against Fuerza Popular (Popular Force party) leader Keiko Fujimori and 40 other people involved in the alleged offense of criminal organization and money laundering, within the framework of the Cocktails Case.

As is known, the Prosecutor's Office requested 30 years in prison for Fujimori Higuchi.

The hearing will be held at the Judiciary's Carlos Zavala Loayza Building Hearing Room No. 1 starting at 09:00 a.m. It will continue the following day at the same time.

The collegiate reported that it was decided to set July 1 and 2 as the dates for the oral trial start due to the complexity of the case, and because five defendants are abroad.

The process of notification to the countries where they reside, through international judicial cooperation, requires a period of approximately four months.

It was also decided to notify the accused citizens, under warning of being declared "in contempt of court," in the event of unjustified non-attendance at the hearing, and to order their compulsive delivery (to court) or, where appropriate, the corresponding issuance of arrest warrants.

Likewise, it was specified that the witnesses and experts will be summoned at the respective opportunity, subject to the start of this trial and the completion of the procedural acts in relation to the accused citizens.

The number of witnesses exceeds 1,000.

In this case, Keiko Fujimori and 40 other natural persons are accused, in addition to Fuerza Popular political party and MVV Bienes Raices as legal entities.

Some of the defendants in this case are Vicente Silva Checa, Pier Figari Mendoza, Ana Rosa Herz, Jaime Yoshiyama Tanaka, Jose Chlimper, Mark Vito Villanella, among others.
