During a plenary session last Wednesday, Parliament members elected Gutierrez as Ombudsman —after garnering more than the 87 votes required for the election.

Gutierrez' candidature received 88 votes in favor, 24 against, and 9 abstentions.

Today's ceremony was held at Congress' Raul Porras Barrenechea Chamber.

It was attended by ministers and legislators from various parties, as well as the heads of the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) and the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (Reniec).

Civil and military authorities also attended the event.
