Freeport-McMoRan Inc. President and CEO Richard Adkerson noted Peru is a good mining investment destination and expressed optimism concerning copper prices.
"Peru is a good place to invest. We rely on a successful operation, good relations with the communities, and a great team," he told Andina news agency.
The business forum takes places on the occasion of the coming
8th Summit of the Americas —an event which brings together Heads of States from the hemisphere, as well as U.S Vice-President Mike Pence and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
According to Peru's Central Reserve Bank (BCR), 2018 will be a good year for
mining investments in the Inca country.
On the other hand, the CEO also expressed optimism regarding copper prices in the medium- and long-term.
The company also operates at Cerro Verde mine (Arequipa region) producing 22% of copper and 37% of molybdenum in Peru.
