Peru: Iquitos port receives oxygen cylinders for treatment of COVID-19 patients

09:54 | Iquitos (Loreto region), May. 12.

The National Ports Company (ENAPU) provides logistical support in the embarkation and disembarkation of medicinal oxygen cylinders destined for Loreto Regional Hospital, Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) reported on Tuesday.

It must be noted that said oxygen is used in the treatment of COVID-19 patients.

According to MTC, ENAPU's actions are carried out jointly with the Peruvian Navy, which transports the oxygen, on alternative days, from the town of Trompeteros, where the processing plant operates.

The transfer began Thursday, May 7, at 10:27 a.m., when a vessel owned by the Peruvian Navy arrived at Iquitos Port Terminal —administered by ENAPU— with 50 medical oxygen cylinders.

Afterwards, the containers were loaded on a ship which left for Trompeteros for their replenishment.
