Interior Minister Victor Torres has ordered the immediate deployment of a contingent of the Peruvian National Police (PNP) Special Forces Directorate (DIROES) to reinforce security in the border area with Ecuador.

As is known, on Tuesday afternoon, criminal acts were registered in various parts of the Ecuadorian city of Guayaquil, one of the first scenes being the TC television channel headquarters, where armed and hooded men broke in during a live broadcast and took several journalists hostage.

Precisely, Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa mentioned in a decree the existence of an "internal armed conflict" in Ecuador and ordered the Armed Forces to carry out military actions "under international humanitarian law and respecting human rights."

In this regard, the Government of Peru strongly condemned the acts of violence that occurred in Ecuador, which violate the fundamental rights of Ecuadorian citizens and threaten the security of that brother country.

In a statement issued by the Foreign Affairs Ministry, it expressed support for the Government of President Daniel Noboa, as well as for democratic institutionality and stability in Ecuador, wishing for a prompt restoration of peace and security in said country.

Moreover, Peru expressed solidarity with the victims of those acts of violence.
