Peru and Honduras have ratified the government-to-government agreement which lifts visa restrictions for their respective citizens, according to a supreme decree published in the official gazette of El Peruano official daily.
The resolution, which was out Monday, of the Peruvian Foreign Ministry (MRE) stressed the afore-agreement is core for the Andean nation’s interests overseas, thus deciding to renew the international legal instrument with the Caribbean nation.
On November 15, 2013, the governments of Peru and Honduras signed an agreement to reciprocally suspend visa requirements for their nationals for short-term business and tourism trips.
The deal of the suppression of visas for ordinary passports was inked by the head of the Andean nation's diplomacy, Eda Rivas Franchini; and her counterpart from the Honduran administration, Mireya Agüero.
At the ceremony, the two parties stressed the utmost importance of the agreement, as it is expected to increase bilateral flow of tourists between the two countries in the short run as well as to encourage foreign investment.
Following the signing, the two foreign ministers highlighted their will to strengthen political dialogue and cooperation in the fields of energy and mining between the two countries.
In this regard, there was held the signing of an Inter-institutional Agreement on Cooperation between Honduras' Institute of Geology and Mining and Peru's Energy and Mines Ministry aimed at promoting and encourage the share of knowledge.
