Peruvian citizens participated in the National Earthquake and Tsunami Drill held throughout the Andean nation on Friday morning.
The preparedness exercise simulated a large magnitude earthquake and got people in coastal areas prepared in case of a tsunami.
Organized by the National Civil Defense Institute (Indeci), the practice kicked off at 10:00 AM (local time).
It should be noted Peru lies in the Pacific Ring of Fire, an area known for seismic upheavals and volcanic eruptions.
The movement was felt in Lima, Piura, Lambayeque, La Libertad, Cajamarca, Loreto, Junin, San Martin, as well as in neighboring countries Ecuador, Colombia, and Brazil.
