Peru's national soccer team reached the 15th spot (1108 points) in the monthly world ranking issued by the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).
Led by Argentinean coach Ricardo Gareca, the red-and-white
climbed two positions following a draw with
Venezuela (2-2) and victory against Uruguay (2-1).
Both matches were part of the South American Qualifiers towards Russia 2018 World Cup.
Among South American teams, Peru ranks fifth thus surpassing Uruguay (1099), Ecuador (858), Paraguay (748), Venezuela (630) and Bolivia (473).
Brazil holds FIFA ranking's first spot. It is followed by Argentina (2th), Chile (4th) and Colombia (5th).
Friendly matches
The Inca squad will play friendly matches against Paraguay and Jamaica on June 8 and 13, respectively. Games are part of its preparation for the Qualifiers.
It must be noted the red-white holds the seventh spot (out of 10).
Peru has seen six defeats, five victories and three draws (18 points).
