More than two million medical supplies needed for the COVID-19 vaccination day —which began this Tuesday in Lima— were sent by the Ministry of Health (Minsa) to distribution centers in the capital city and regions throughout Peru.

In recent weeks —through its National Center for Supply of Strategic Health Resources (Cenares)— Minsa distributed 1,368,386 personal protective equipment units to be used by the nurses in charge of administering the vaccine to front-line health personnel fighting against COVID-19.

In addition, 1,056,022 medical supplies —such as syringes and cotton balls— were transported to the country's 25 regions, in accordance with the requirements that each of them will have.

Given that Metropolitan Lima is the area hosting the largest number of health personnel, it will be the region to which the greatest number of medical supplies were sent —particularly the Directorate of Integrated Health Networks in Lima Center (Diris Lima Centro).

It received 423,500 PPE units and 334,102 medical supplies.
