The Ministry of Health (Minsa) on Tuesday confirmed the presence of two new cases of monkeypox in Peru, specifying that both persons are related to the initial patient registered in Peru.

In a statement, the government agency added that locating these citizens was possible thanks to the epidemiological surveillance conducted by specialists from Minsa's National Center for Epidemiology, Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) and the National Health Institute (INS).

It clarified that these patients are stable and isolated at their homes, under permanent surveillance.

Furthermore, Minsa reaffirmed that health establishments in the country are alert to the arrival of this disease.

"If you have symptoms of monkeypox, you must go to the health facility (located) closest to your place of residence or wherever you are. You can also call 113 option 6," the statement concluded.
