Peru Health Min visits Loreto region to monitor COVID-19 response measures

Peruvian Health Minister Victor Zamora visited the rainforest region of Loreto to supervise the actions taken to prevent COVID-19 infections.

The health sector's head arrived in the city of Iquitos on Monday, joined by a representative of the Peruvian College of Physicians (CMP).


As part of the visit, the Minsa delegation brought personal protective equipment, medicines, and coronavirus rapid tests.

Later, Zamora chaired a working meeting in said region, along with Production Minister Rocio Barrios, as well as representatives of the COVID-19 Operations Command and the Armed Forces.

During the gathering, the health minister was informed of the situational context of the epidemic in Iquitos.

"We are where we are needed," said Zamora as he inspected the Regional Hospital of Loreto and verified the medical condition of coronavirus patients. 


According to a statement posted by Minsa on Twitter, the Cabinet member supervised the operational capacity of said medical center and healthcare system, which will be strengthened.
