Peru: Health Min visits Ancash region to monitor COVID-19 containment measures

Peru's Health Minister Victor Zamora on Thursday arrived in the northern city of Chimbote to oversee COVID-19 containment measures in Ancash region and provide the necessary material to combat the pandemic.

Upon arrival, he was accompanied by Education Minister Martin Benavides.

As part of Te Cuido Peru (I Take Care of You, Peru) plan, Zamora inspected the rapid testing of 400 vendors at La Perla market, along with Minister Benavides, Ancash Region Governor Juan Carlos Morillo, and local authorities.

Afterwards, the health sector's head supervised Eleazar Guzman Barron Regional Hospital, which currently has 65 COVID-19 patients.

"We are strengthening the health capacity in Ancash," the Ministry of Health (Minsa) posted on Twitter. 

"An essential requirement to reduce mortality rates of COVID-19 is organization. We are going to expand the hospital capacity in Ancash with 400 additional beds. We all need to be united," the minister expressed.
