11:55 | Lima, Dec. 31.

Health Minister Pilar Mazzetti will be the one to sign —on behalf of Peru— the contracts to acquire the COVID-19 vaccines, according to a regulation published in El Peruano official gazette.

Supreme Resolution No. 244-2020-PCM specifies that it is considered pertinent to delegate these powers to the head of the Health Ministry (Minsa), in its capacity as health authority of the country and maximum authority of the National Health System.

Additionally, a reference has been made to Urgency Decree No. 110-2020, published on September 10, 2020 in EL Peruano official gazette.

The above-mentioned decree dictates extraordinary measures in economic and financial matters, to facilitate and guarantee access, acquisition, conservation, distribution, and administration of the vaccines that will induce antibodies and generate immune responses in the population, and thus counteract the spread of COVID-19.
