Health Minister Oscar Ugarte has received his first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and has urged Peruvians to lend their shoulder.

"We have met our duty to get vaccinated against COVID-19 by waiting our turn and without skipping the queue. Let us continue to lend our shoulder," he posted on Twitter.

The minister took the opportunity to extend his best wishes to mothers on their day.

"I would like to express my appreciation to those mothers who have come here to get vaccinated, this is surely their best gift, as well as those who are working for everyone to get vaccinated," Ugarte pointed out.

"I wish they have the best of the days, and I congratulate them for the work they are doing," he added.
