Health Minister Pilar Mazzetti on Thursday reiterated that the increase in coronavirus cases could be announcing a second COVID-19 wave in Peru.

The high-ranking official mentioned that —although there is still no case curve similar to the one observed at the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020— "the right thing to do is to think that this increase in cases is leading us towards a second wave."

"Therefore, we have had meetings with the regional directors and governors, in order to prepare their second wave plans," she concluded.
