Peru has welcomed over 750,000 tourists so far in 2022

Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Roberto Sanchez highlighted the fact that Peru has received more than 750,000 tourists so far this year —a result that allows us to look forward to the tourism sector's reactivation.

This was stated on Wednesday evening during a conference from the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, where he announced the progress of said sector.

"Within the framework of tourism revival promoted by the Government, more than 750,000 tourists have arrived in the country to date; this is a very important figure, which allows us to look with hope towards the present and the future," he expressed.

Likewise, the Cabinet member indicated that the 15th anniversary of the election of Machu Picchu citadel as one of the New 7 Wonders of the World will be celebrated this Thursday.

"We all remember that great universal vote 15 years ago, when more than 100 million citizens said that the citadel of Machu Picchu was a marvel," he remarked.

In this sense, the high-ranking official announced that various celebratory events will be held in coordination with the Ministry of Culture.


He also affirmed that the commitment of the Executive Branch is to develop investments which allow improving the safety, access, and quality of tourism required by the South American country.
