Set to take place in Paracas beach area on March 24-25, the first Grape Harvest Festival is projected to gather over 10,000 attendees.

Said event will be possible thanks to articulated efforts by Ica region's Paracas District Municipality and the city's Tourism and Foreign Trade Chamber (Capatur).

Paracas Mayor Miguel Angel Castillo underlined both institutions are looking for an appropriate location to host the aforementioned festival.

In this sense, Capatur Head Eduardo Jauregui proposed the land close to Paracas Obelisk.

This proposal will be assessed by State-run National Service of Natural Protected Areas (Sernarp). The request comprises the use of said land for the feast.

"It is a strategic place to host the first Grape Harvest Festival. In case they do not grant us the authorization, we will seek another venue," Jauregui affirmed.

The officer projected no less than 10,000 people are expected to attend and witness this celebration.

He also pointed out the said event will be purely touristic; thus, main exhibitors will be local pisco and grape producers.

Paracas National Reserve

Paracas Reserve is a privileged place on the Peruvian coast for nature tourism, since it hosts a great biological diversity, especially marine-coastal species.

The area is home to nearly 216 species of birds, 36 of mammals, 10 of reptiles, 168 of fish and a large number of invertebrates, which are at the bottom of the trophic chain in this important place.

Vegetation is scarce in this paradisiacal location, but a few coastal hills can be seen on top of the mountains, which serve as habitats for various reptiles, insects, birds and some mammals.

Paracas National Reserve is situated at km 245 of the Panamericana Sur Highway, and can be reached in approximately four hours by car.
