on Thursday reaffirmed her commitment to children, adolescents, and youth, ensuring proper nutrition and quality education, so that they can shape a good future for themselves.
Mrs. Boluarte participated in the event marking the launch of "Cambiando Rumbos" (Changing Courses).
Within this framework, the top official stated that the
Juntos (Together) program by the
Development and Social Inclusion Ministry (Midis) served nearly 700,000 households hosting pregnant women, as well as children and adolescents with health and education services.
Similarly, 79,000 households received the Primera Infancia (Early Childhood) transfer.
"My Government has a firm commitment to our children, adolescents, and youth; we work to guarantee their nutrition and provide them with quality health and education (services) so that they can forge a future based on their effort and talent," she expressed.
The President pointed out that, thanks to the Juntos program, high school students were promoted to prepare for enrollment at universities and continuing their studies by gaining access to Beca 18 (Scholarship 18 Program), thus strengthening their abilities and multiplying their opportunities to move forward.
In this sense, the Head of State explained that a good inheritance, which can be left for future generations, are studies and professions for children, which is why the government intends to materialize 50,000 scholarships for the same number of young people.
The top official also announced that 879 municipalities nationwide are being called on to work on the implementation of a national program to fight anemia in children and adolescents.
"But if we want to change the course of adolescents and youth, we cannot neglect their mental health, which is one of the most serious consequences that the pandemic left us," she expressed.
Thus, the President announced that 28 mental health centers will be put into operation in 12 Peruvian regions during the coming months.
Mrs. Boluarte added that there will be 307 community mental health centers, including new and refurbished ones, by 2024 to serve children and adolescents at schools.
"Feel free to choose what is best for your future. Bet on peace and feel proud to be Peruvians. The (Peruvian) State is an ally for your objectives; we want to build new opportunities for everyone. Changing Courses will be the new path with hope," she concluded.
