Peru: Gov't transfers totaled over US$14.8 billion, up 7% in 2019

The Economy and Finance Ministry (MEF) on Friday informed that transfers from the General Government to local, regional and national governments, as well as to Sanitation Service Providers (EPSs), increased to S/49.007 billion (around US$14.828 billion) in 2019.

According to MEF figures, transfers of resources at different government levels and to EPS went up 7.73% in nominal terms last year, compared to the same period in 2018 when transfers totaled S/45.490 billion (around US$13.763 billion).

In December 2019 alone, Government transfers stood at S/4.573 billion (around US$1.383 billion), down by 16.01% —in nominal terms— compared to S/5.445 billion (around US$1.647 billion) in December 2018.  

At the end of 2017, the authorized amounts for transfers to national, regional and local governments as well as to EPSs reached S/42.864 billion (around US$12.969 billion).
 
Thus, transfers increased annually in the last 15 years, totaling S/385.168 billion (around US$116.540 billion) as at December last year.
