Economy and Finance Minister Maria Antonieta Alva on Wednesday affirmed that Peru has solid macroeconomic foundations to reverse the impacts generated by the expansion of the coronavirus (COVID-19) around the world.
"We will continue assessing the economic performance of the country. The stationary impacts will be reflected in the projections of the Multiannual Macroeconomic Framework on March 31," she noted.
Allocations for health and education sectors
The minister said that —in order to meet the demands generated by the contagion of coronavirus— the transfer of S/100 million (about US$28.58 million) to the Ministry of Health was approved by the Council of Ministers.
She added that the Ministry of Education will transfer S/165 million (about US$47.17 million) to country's educational institutions with the aim of improving their sanitation infrastructure.
Remarks were made in a televised statement from the Government Palace in Lima.
