Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Thursday morning participated in the launching ceremony of the National System for the Search of Missing Persons —a system to process reports as well as actions of dissemination, investigation, search, and location of missing persons.

The Head of State was accompanied by Ministers Cesar Gentille (Interior), Ana Neyra (Justice and Human Rights), and Rosario Sasieta (Women and Vulnerable Populations).

The System for the Search of Missing Persons is provided for in Legislative Decree No. 1428, published in 2018.

The regulation provides measures for immediate processing of reports, dissemination, investigation, search, location, and the use of technological mechanisms for the organization and dissemination of information.

These technological mechanisms include a computerized alert system, a website for missing persons, the 114 Hotline Service (for disappearance cases only), and the Early Warning Emergency Messaging System (Sismate).
