Deputy Social Services Minister Fanny Montellanos on Monday reported that the government grant of S/600 (about US$164) for vulnerable groups affected by the COVID-19 pandemic has already been paid to 2,359,751 beneficiary households.

"The delivery of this economic aid for Group 4 households —whose members neither have a private bank account nor a cell phone— that is, for around 500,000 households, began on Monday," she told Andina news agency.

The creation of 4 beneficiary groups was precisely to avoid crowds and lines at agencies.

Those wishing to confirm if they are eligible or not and to find out when to claim the grant shall visit the Bono600 website

Once there, users are required to provide their ID card number and date of issue.

In order to avoid scams targeting beneficiaries, Montellanos noted that the only channels responsible for providing information are the above-mentioned website and the 101 hotline.

The government official explained that her sector's goal is to leave a roadmap for the new Government to keep a series of evidence-based interventions on track.

"The objective is to develop effective interventions," she remarked.
