The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Tuesday described as fruitful the working meeting he held with Comptroller General Nelson Shack with the aim of strengthening control actions.

"The Government that I am honored to lead is embarking on a new working stage, which is characterized by efficiency, for the benefit of the population," the Head of State posted on social networks.

After the working meeting, the comptroller general told the media that they discussed the transfer process, whose first stage has been completed.

Bill on profiles

The meeting also addressed the profiles of government officials appointed to different positions of trust.

"The President is aware of the need to respect the profiles, and the Comptroller General's Office has been working on this," he pointed out.

On the matter, Shack noted that he told the President that he would submit a bill to Congress to standardize the profiles in the entire public administration and reduce the discretion on these management instruments.

"All secretaries-general are more or less the same and must have the same profile, no matter where they are, all deputy ministers are the same, as well as the advisors. The idea is to have a minimum standard so that the population itself knows what is legal regarding the appointment process," he explained.

According to Shack, there is a provision that all national control systems at government entities will remain alert to the appointments and recruitment process. In addition, the officers making such appointments shall define the responsibilities in case of possible irregularities.

He went on to say that control actions have been taken to review the appointments at the Ministries of Transport and Communications, Agriculture, as well as Housing and Construction, noting that public servants who fail to comply with such controls may be suspended, warned, or barred from public office.
