The Executive Branch declared April 14 a National Day of Mourning following the death of Peruvian writer and 2010 Nobel Prize in Literature laureate Mario Vargas Llosa.

This was established through Supreme Decree No. 047-2025-PCM, published in a special edition of the Official Legal Regulations Bulletin of the Official Gazette El Peruano.
