The Government of Peru on Thursday expressed its appreciation for the decision of the People's Republic of China to exempt Peruvian citizens from the visa requirement for entry into its territory for tourism, business, or transit purposes, for a period of up to 30 days.

The announcement was made during the Foreign Affairs minister's participation in the recent meeting of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) held in Beijing. It represents one of the main diplomatic achievements of the aforementioned event.

This important measure, which will come into effect from June 1 until May 31, 2026, has been made possible thanks to the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through our Embassy in Beijing. It comes in response to a request officially issued by the Peruvian Government.

It is worth highlighting that Peru is part of the first group of Latin American countries included in this pilot visa exemption program, along with other nations from the region, reflecting the high level of trust and cooperation that characterizes the bilateral relationship between both countries.

This visa exemption will strengthen cultural and tourism ties between Peru and China.

Likewise, it will help deepen the close friendship and cooperation bonds existing between both countries, to the mutual benefit of their peoples.

The Government of Peru also reaffirms its commitment to promoting a foreign policy that facilitates connectivity, economic development, and closer ties between nations, within a framework of respect, reciprocity, and cooperation.
