Peru: Government thanks United Arab Emirates, Holy See for donation to fight COVID-19

The Government of Peru on Monday thanked the Government of the United Arab Emirates and the Holy See for the significant donation of food, disinfectants, and personal protective equipment (PPE) addressed to the Apostolic Vicariate of the rainforest city of Iquitos.

According to the Foreign Affairs Ministry, this generous contribution will serve to meet the most urgent needs of the vulnerable population in Loreto region at current times, as well as to help combat the pandemic caused by COVID-19.

It is worth mentioning that the aforementioned donation reached almost 40 tons, which were transferred to the South American country on two flights by the UAE's national airline Etihad.

The UAE has responded to the COVID-19 crisis by providing over 1,000 metric tons of aid to 70 countries, supporting more than 1 million medical professionals in the process.
