official letter submitted on Tuesday to Parliament Chairman Eduardo Salhuana indicated that the Head of State has received an invitation from her French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron.
"Within this framework of the working visit to the French Republic, the Madam President of the Republic will hold a meeting with President Emmanuel Macron, which, from a political standpoint, is of the utmost importance, as it will substantially contribute to strengthening the excellent relations with a country that is currently developing the most important infrastructure projects in Peru, thereby deepening its economic and cooperative presence in our country. The concrete objective is to consolidate a Privileged Partnership with France," the document stated.
It is emphasized that, for Peru, the relationship with France represents one of the most significant and longstanding within the European context.
Likewise, it highlighted that France holds a strategic position in Europe as a political leader at various international forums and a well-established economic power.
Regarding the
3rd United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3),
the request noted that the President's presence will reaffirm Peru's commitment to environmental sustainability, strengthen its leadership in Latin America on ocean governance issues, and provide an opportunity to engage with other heads of state and government, as well as with governmental and non-governmental stakeholders involved in ocean conservation and management.
The request also specified that, in accordance with current laws, the presidential office management through digital technologies will enable the top official to attend to matters that may arise during the period in which she is outside the national territory.
