Peru: Government publishes decree to speed up infrastructure works

11:30 | Lima, Feb. 11.

The government has approved a legislative decree, within the powers delegated by the Congress of the Republic, with the purpose of facilitating the availability of real estate through the bulk release of areas for the execution of infrastructure works.

Through Legislative Decree No. 1726, published today in the Official Gazette El Peruano, the Framework Law on the Acquisition and Expropriation of Real Estate, the Transfer of State-Owned Real Estate, the Clearance of Interferences, and Other Measures for the Execution of Infrastructure Works (Legislative Decree No. 1192) was amended.

This regulation seeks to facilitate the availability of real estate, through the bulk release of areas, for the timely and expeditious execution of infrastructure works, generating additional incentives to promote direct agreements.

Accordingly, under the delegation of legislative powers, an alternative and expeditious mechanism is incorporated, allowing entities in charge of large-scale infrastructure projects to opt for the bulk release of land areas, thereby contributing to the execution of projects within the contractual deadlines assumed by the Peruvian State.

The legislative decree promotes, fosters, and streamlines public and private investment, generating productive employment and improving the country's competitiveness.
