The Executive Branch has authorized the trip, on commission of services, of Foreign Affairs Minister Ana Cecilia Gervasi to the Swiss city of Davos, from January 15 to 20, to participate in the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting

Similarly, the government official will attend a mini-ministerial meeting of the World Trade Organization (WTO) scheduled for January 19.

At the event, organization members will continue the important debates regarding the facilitation of investments for development and electronic commerce.

According to Supreme Resolution No. 016-2023-PCM, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano on Saturday, the participation of the State minister in the aforementioned events is of national interest.

In this sense, the Foreign Affairs office will be entrusted to Justice-Human Rights Minister Jose Tello, as of January 15, and as long as the sector head's absence lasts.

Likewise, the document indicates that the participation of the minister in the aforementioned events will allow Peru to be positioned as an active State in the search for solutions to common global and regional problems —based on a shared vision of economic progress and sustainable development.

In addition, it will contribute to exploring new forms of collaboration and convergence in areas of joint work with the WEF and with various participating actors, as well as to developing alliances with the private sector and other stakeholders for an inclusive and sustainable growth of Peru and of Latin America —with special emphasis on the well-being of compatriots.

World Economic Forum

The World Economic Forum (WEF) —which has been organized for more than 50 years—represents a global platform where leaders of businesses, governments, international organizations, civil society, and academia come together to agree on issues critical to the world.

On this occasion, the WEF Annual Meeting will have "Cooperation in a Fragmented World" as its central motto.

The event will take place in the city of Davos, Switzerland, from January 16 to 20.

Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Ana Cecilia Gervasi is expected to participate as a speaker in panels on sustainable development, multilateral cooperation, and geopolitics —within the framework of the current international situation.

Similarly, she will hold bilateral meetings with high authorities and global leaders in order to promote cooperation for the economic and social development of the country.
