on Tuesday signed the letter of intent which formalizes the launch and implementation of the International eTrade Readiness Assessment in Peru.
Following the signing of the agreement, the Cabinet chief indicated that Grynspan's official visit will contribute to intensifying technical cooperation activities with Peru "and will contribute to economic reactivation in response to the crisis generated by the COVID-19 pandemic."
"It was really pleasant to sign the letter of intent with the UNCTAD, which aims to formalize the launch and implementation of the project for international assessment of e-commerce in Peru," he specified.
Likewise, the Prime Minister highlighted that Peru will be the first beneficiary of this type of program in Latin America and the Caribbean, which will generate "a positive impact due to the international digital transformation policy."
"It will allow getting to know the development level, in terms of e-commerce across the country, as well as identifying the challenges and opportunities to help in the recovery of the most vulnerable populations, MSEs, SMEs, community business ventures, and all economic digitalization processes," he added.
Moreover, Torres explained that the project agreed in the letter of intent establishes seven pillars which are part of the
eTrade for All initiative that will benefit the entire Peruvian population.
"I am firmly convinced that the program we are launching today will be a valuable instrument to promote digital economy, e-commerce, digital entrepreneurship, innovation, the resilience of SMEs and of production processes in Peru," he remarked.

For her part,
UNCTAD Secretary-General Grynspan indicated that the signing of this letter of intent meant "the starting signal" for an initiative which will identify "bottlenecks," as well as the strengths of e-commerce in Peru, thus being able to promote the development of this sector.
"This
assessment is also the first of its kind to be supported by a donor partner like Switzerland; besides, this
assessment is very timely considering the current situation," she concluded.
