Peru gets 39 medals at Lima 2019 Pan American Games

Peru Team has won a total of 39 medals at Lima 2019 Pan American Games, Peruvian Sports Institute confirmed on Sunday.

They included gold (11), silver (7), and bronze (21). These results marked a historic record.

Thus, the hosting nation is part of the Top 10 medal-winning countries on this edition.


The United States claimed 293 medals: gold (120), silver (88), and bronze (85). It was followed by Brazil, with 171 medals: gold (55), silver (45), and bronze (71). Mexico ended third (136 medals): gold (37), silver (36), and bronze (63).

About Lima 2019

The Lima 2019 Pan American Games gathered over 6,000 athletes from 41 countries and delegations of the Americas. The continental event officially opened on July 26 at the National Stadium located in the Peruvian capital and ran thru August 11.

Some of the main venues were VIDENA, Villa Maria del Triunfo Sports Center, Callao Regional Sports Village, Villa El Salvador Sports Center, Punta Rocas, among others.

The Lima 2019 Pan American Games included 39 sports and 61 disciplines, in which athletes compete for gold, silver, and bronze medals.

The Parapan American Games will gather 1,890 Para athletes from 33 countries, who will participate in 17 Para sports and 18 disciplines.

Competitions will take place from August 23 to September 1, 2019. Additionally, 13 sports will be qualifiers for Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
