Following an exhaustive analysis of the epidemiological indicators regarding the rate of infection, positivity, and lethality of COVID-19 —after the first 10 days of the different lockdown— it was determined that 32 provinces are under extreme risk,
Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez reported.
These provinces include Utcubamba (Amazonas region); Arequipa, Camana, Islay, and Caylloma (Arequipa region); Huamanga (Ayacucho region); Cutervo (Cajamarca region); Canchis and La Convencion (Cusco region); Huancavelica (Huancavelica region); Ica, Chincha, and Pisco (Ica region); Metropolitan Lima, Huaura, Cañete, Barranca, and Huaral (Lima region); and Callao.
The list of provinces also includes Huancayo, Tarma, Yauli, and Chanchamayo (Junin region); Tacna (Tacna region); Huanuco (Huanuco region); Puno (Puno region); Santa (Ancash region), Abancay (Apurimac region), Pasco (Pasco region), Maynas and Ramon Castilla (Loreto region); and Ilo (Moquegua region).
"This way, we can concentrate the different lockdown measures that have been applied in these 32 provinces in a better way," the Cabinet chief explained at a press conference on Wednesday.
She emphasized that the mandatory social immobility in regions under extreme risk —due to the COVID-19 pandemic— will remain in force 24 hours a day, seven days a week, although people are allowed to leave home to perform essential activities listed in
a decree approved in late January.
Thus, citizens are able to purchase essential food and medicines, request delivery services, and take a one-hour walk near home.
Thus, the extended lockdown will be in force from February 15 to 28.
